What Makes Our Product Different? A Behind-the-Scenes Look.

When it comes to sports protection, it’s time to raise the bar. SWAARM’s Advanced Armour technology is the result of years of engineering, testing, and refinement. The outcome? Industry-leading impact protection that’s comfortable, flexible, and most importantly, effective.

What’s inside the tech?

Unlike traditional sports impact protection equipment made with basic foam or rigid plastic, SWAARM’s designs use materials that respond dynamically to force. SWAARM's proprietary Advanced Armour foam stiffens instantly upon impact, absorbing and dispersing energy before it reaches the brain. But the real game-changer lies within… A layer of patented Advanced Armour technology effectively disperses and absorbs impact force across a matrix of hinged plates.

SWAARM’s Advanced Armour is specifically engineered to protect high-risk areas, including the head and chest. In standardised drop tests, SWAARM’s headgear outperforms legacy designs by up to 375%. Under the same testing conditions, SWAARM’s breast protection achieves up to 175% more protection than the nearest competitor. Comfort and flexibility meet safety in a way that no other brand has achieved.

Setting the record straight on headgear

It’s a common belief among governing bodies in sport and education: headgear doesn’t work. But here’s the catch - most studies and peer-reviewed papers test old-school designs like rugby scrum caps, which were never built to protect the brain from acceleration forces. Naturally, the data reflects their limitations.

Science shows that sudden movement of the head during direct impact is one of the biggest predictors of brain injury. It’s the linear and rotational acceleration within the skull that generates dangerous pressure and strain in brain tissue. Traditional headgear is often too thin or soft to prevent this. SWAARM’s Advanced Armour changes that equation.

Can headgear prevent every concussion? No. Can SWAARM headgear reduce the forces that cause them? Absolutely.

No headgear can stop every injury. Indirect forces - like whiplash - can still cause trauma without any head contact. SWAARM’s multi-layered design is specifically built to reduce the direct impact forces most responsible for concussion, making a real difference where it counts.

Along with the outstanding linear testing results, independent testing at the World’s Best Helmet Lab at Virginia Tech shows up to a 70% reduction in rotational brain acceleration, one of the primary contributors to concussion, and thought to be a significant factor in long-term brain damage such as CTE.

Raising the standard in breast protection

While foam-only garments don’t provide much meaningful protection, and the hard plastic shield-style products can be quite uncomfortable to the wearer, something needed to change - SWAARM needed to break the mould.

SWAARM have incorporated Advanced Armour into their breast protection garments and inserts to provide elite comfort, style, and - most importantly - the best impact protection in the market.

Field testing has welcomed positive reviews from all athletes, citing confidence, comfort and safety as their primary drivers to wearing the product.

With the rise in women’s sport in recent years, SWAARM believes that every athlete deserves to play the games we love to the best of their ability, unhindered by breast pain that can be prevented.

Validated by experts

SWAARM is home to the world’s top-performing sports halo, according to Virginia Tech’s Helmet Lab.

SWAARM are investing into several PhD projects at multiple universities studying headgear and breast injury prevention in Australian football. Each PhD will yield multiple papers to be submitted for publication into reputable sports medicine journals.

Protected by the patents to Protect What Matters Most

SWAARM’s innovation strategy includes active patents (existing and pending) and trademarks protecting both the design and the technology. And they’re not done yet - more advancements and products are already in the pipeline.
